For many years, NHS organisations have relied on Directory Manager to provide the all-important integration of ESR and other staff systems with Active Directory to provide simple and effective provisioning workflows. New to Directory Manager version 3 comes Microsoft Office 365 integration, enabling NHS Trusts to manage mailbox provisioning and other licence allocations automatically.
Organisations using NHSmail (Exchange Online) can take advantage of the native integration with User Policy management within the National Tenant. Those with a private Office365 tenant (Exchange Online) now have full synchronisation of user and licence information from their tenancy to the Directory Manager database, along with the ability to configure automated allocation and removal of those licences as user employment status changes.
“Integration with Office 365 was an important part of the BDS Solutions’ roadmap. With NHS Digital coordinating an updated NHSmail for Trusts, our Directory Manager customers wished to continue benefiting from the advantages provided by Directory Manager whilst moving to Exchange Online, whether within the National or a Private Tenant,” said Nick Goodland, Product Director, BDS Solutions. “Other Trusts still looking to make the move to either messaging platform can rely on Directory Manager as a proven solution to manage the provision, update and expiry of their email accounts wherever they may reside.”
Approved by NHS Digital to perform integration with, and migration to and from NHSmail, BDS Solutions’ Directory Manager can manage the full account lifecycle within NHSmail. NHS Digital have confirmed that where Directory Manager is deployed, TANSync will not need to be installed. All email addresses relating to mailboxes managed by Directory Manager on NHSmail, Office 365 or On-Premise Exchange can be automatically fed back to related staff records on ESR to support effective communications and ESR self-service.
Directory Manager’s business rules provide granular control over what happens during provisioning, allowing organisations to defined precisely the account details, security and distribution groups, file resources and licencing that is allocated to each staff member.
Directory Manager’s highly flexible notification service keeps administrators, managers and users up to date with any key account events that may occur. With the latest version of Directory Manager, managers, department administrators or users can respond to approval requests direct from their email client making it easier to engage staff who may only occasionally be involved in provisioning processes.
BDS Solutions’ Directory Manager is developed solely for the NHS and is the most effective solution for managing new starters, changes and leavers, automatically managing changes within ESR, Active Directory and email messaging platforms such as Exchange, NHSmail and O365.
